I haven't been posting a lot lately, but then again there hasn't been a lot going on. We're in the home stretch before school starts, and Jimmy is both excited and a little nervous about being a first grader. I just can't believe it. Not that long ago, he was so small I could hold him in one arm; now he's in first grade. So strange.

...okay, I'm back.
In other news, I'm concerned about Gustav, but I'm not going to out-and-out panic until we see what happens on Saturday. That's not to say I'm not checking Bob Breck's site--particularly his blog--obsessively, but I'm going to stay calm until it reenters the Gulf--until then, anything could happen.
Still...Dad, if you guys have to evacuate this time, could you remember to take more than a single day's worth of clothing...AND YOUR COMPUTER??? And also, let me know when you evacuate, so I can put the battery powered fans in the mail right away. ;)Current Mood: awake |

Hello! What's this???
Why, it's a very recent interview with Tim Kring where he mentions that he is "dying" to get Christopher back for season three of Heroes.
Nothing definitive, but worth a look. And crossed fingers.
Kring mentions Chris around 8:42, but the interviews interesting enough to listen though on its own, although it does contain many references to season 4 that might be considered spoilers. Nothing earth-shattering, but still.
Here's hoping!

Ok, I had two people so far respond to my DVD extras meme, where you pick a short fic, or a chapter of a long fic, and I do a sort of "commentary" to it. garpu chose A Long Way Home, a short, angsty Jack-fic written near the end of series 1 of Torchwood.
Many thanks to earlgreytea68, whose own commentary helped me figure out how to format this! Also, if you still want to play, feel free to go back to the original meme post (linked above) and tell me so. :)

I once again upgraded to Firefox 3 (technically, Firefox 3.0.1), and--as with the first time I used it--I'm having a miserable time copying and pasting text fom Word 2007 into the Rich Text box. This is actually an issue regardless of browser, which leads me to believe it's tied into Word 2007, and/or Vista.
Specifically, I get a ton of background code when I paste text in, resulting in even a short post exceeding the max post size. Clearly, I'm not going to post all of the chatter here but ,as an example, below is pasted what appears before even the *first* word of proper text pops up. (This is copied over from the html box). The code is scattered throughout the document, most notably when I shift to or from italics/bold/color.
So. is there any way to scrub this crap from the document *before* I paste it into LJ? Or is there a special way I should/could save the word document, to try to avoid this? It's driving me *insane*, and I may once again duck back to Firefox 2 to avoid the problem altogether (Firefox 2, interestingly, didn't have this issue at all). I'm sure, of course, going through and doing the html tagging directly will help...but it's a bit of a pain in the ass when the 256 page document is already done, and done in rich text.
(my apologies for not being a bit more...fuent in my geek).

I am tired. I was up until 1:30am writing fic, because I really wanted to write. And so today was kind of a struggle.
That said, it was also my leaving do. Well, leaving mean in a pub. Which was fun, but kind of depressing. I've been at this job for a WHOLE YEAR. That feels like forever. And I really have loved it, even if I've been frustrated with it sometimes. Everyone's telling me I can come back and work for them when I've got my degree and honestly, I'm half tempted.
Got a lovely card, a bottle of wine, a bottle of champagne, a box of chocolates, a W H Smiths giftcard (I will probably buy lots of books I don't need as opposed to useful stuff like stationary! :D) and a TEDDY BEAR OMGYAY. Heh. A teddy with a custom printed t shirt. Hee. :D
The signed card had lots of lovely comments! XD My favourite was: I'll miss seeing your energy levels increase as you go through the day! And your unique sense of humour (keep it) Heh, I am amused. Many other comments related to my habit of decreasing the height of everyone's chairs when I sit at their desks (I don't have a desk of my own, so move around). It's good to know I've left my mark! ;-)
Anyway, it's now ten to eleven and I'm torn. I sort of want to go and write more, since I'm at a place in the sequel where I want to keep going. But I don't really fancy another half one in the morning.
